Limerick City

Whether you're interested in shopping, eating out or nightlife the historic riverside city of Limerick is well worth a visit. Originally a Viking City, the invaders were driven out by High King Brian Boru in 1197 when the City was granted its charter.

Dominated by the impressive 13th Century King John's Castle, once the most formidable English fortification in Ireland, the City stands as the third largest in Ireland and the veritable gateway to the magnificent Shannon Region and beyond.
