Dining & Drinks at Dromoland

A Castle calls for feasting, making merry, and treating yourself to the very best of everything

The dining options at Dromoland cater for every palate and all occasions. A hearty full Irish, first thing in the morning. A dainty champagne picnic, delicately packed into a wicker basket. Casual snacks served in front of a roaring fire in The Gallery, accompanied by a serious cocktail. A whimsical Afternoon Tea with all the trimmings. Perfect fish and chips, served with mint mushy peas in The Fig Tree. Dinner at The Earl of Thomond, served in the grand old style. The decadence of midnight room service, devoured in the delicious comfort of your suite.

These distinct culinary experiences share one underlying theme: spectacular Irish ingredients, sourced with special care for the environment and respect for the people who grew or caught or crafted them for us.

Everything you taste at Dromoland is the end result of an intricate collaboration between the Irish landscape, the expert growers, farmers, fishermen and small-batch makers who tend and shape its produce, and the dedicated Castle chefs who prepare it with reverence and joy.

Earl of Thomond

Dromoland Castle’s flagship dining experience

We know. The Earl of Thomond Restaurant is as grand as can be, with those soaring ceilings and astonishing crystal chandeliers. This is a place where silver cloches and old-world service will always have a home.

Fig Tree

Casual favourites served with laid-back style

Elegantly unfussy, it’s a welcoming space in all weathers. On a damp day, settle into cosy fireside chairs with friends in the lounge and swap stories over perfect pints or a measure of rare whiskey.

Afternoon Tea

You can lower your little finger

Even people who don’t like tea love Afternoon Tea. Of course they do. Handmade scones and jam and rich Irish clotted cream. Adorably impractical small sandwiches. An irrational number of fanciful sweets.

Cocktail Bar & Gallery

Mad scientist, magician, or mild-mannered mixologist?

Make your way to a mysterious octagonal room, behind the heavy, intricately carved oak door. This might be the most eccentric space in the entire Castle, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Shannigans at The Inn

County Clare’s best gastro pub, by a country mile

Shannigans is a warm, inviting pub serving simple traditional dishes, cooked with creativity. It’s just across the lough, at our sister property, The Inn at Dromoland.
