Every day at Dromoland is a new adventure.
As exciting as it is to explore the castle’s hidden nooks and crannies, most young guests are wild to get out into the grounds as soon as they can. Playing hide and seek in the whimsical walled garden, chasing butterflies across the great lawn, or following the winding paths of the Woodland Fairy Trail—with unlimited space to run and roam, they’re as free as the summer swifts that whirl and dive overhead.
If they feel the need for speed, we have go-karts and children’s bikes to borrow. And if their little legs get tired, pony treks or rides in a horse-drawn cart offer another magical way to discover the estate. Older kids can safely learn archery or clay pigeon shooting under the watchful eye of our expert instructors, or raise a challenge on the tennis courts or golf course.
Coming face to face with a noble hawk or fierce falcon is the experience of a lifetime, and our engaging expert falconers will answer every curious question bright little brains can conjure. If you’re very brave, very lucky, and very gentle, you might even get the chance to give an adorable little owl some scritches.
Back inside the Castle, the pool is perfect for burning off the last of the excess energy: guests under 16 are welcome to swim until 6pm.
Once they’ve worked up a hearty appetite, there’s something to tempt even the most discerning young palettes. (We believe there’s nothing fussy about knowing what you want!) Let them choose their favourites from our tailored children’s menus, and never hesitate to ask for anything you need. We’ve served many a five-star plate of plain buttered pasta in our time. If they’re feeling especially fancy, there’s even a special Afternoon Tea designed for younger guests.
After long, delightful, action-packed days, bedtime becomes a joy. With cosy junior robes and slippers, board games and children’s movies for quiet time, snuggly armchairs for storytime, and deep, decadent bathtubs just begging for bubbles, there’s nothing sweeter than being tucked into bed in a Castle. Except, perhaps, waking up in a Castle. That’s pretty nice too.
