A 15 minute drive from Shannon Airport and easy access via the M18 motorway from Limerick and Galway means that you could be here and out on the golf course in less time than it takes your competition to line up a tricky shot.

Winding across the massive Dromoland Castle estate, our magnificent championship course plays over 6,824 yards for men and 5,242 for ladies. It’s a game of many moods: stern one moment and mischievously playful the next, offering exhilarating challenges to golfers of every level.

Gently rolling hills, ancient trees, and deceptively winsome wildflower meadows conspire to conceal unexpected hazards, then open up in a blaze of glory to reveal breathtaking vistas of the Castle towers and County Clare’s untamed landscapes in the distance. This is a deeply loved golf course, showered with attention from our talented, passionate (some might say obsessive) greenskeepers, and lavished with constant investment and improvements to keep her dancing on a pinpoint of immaculate conditioning and playability in all seasons. That care is something you can see from the instant you arrive, but more importantly, you can feel it in every aspect of your game.

Sharpen your skills and chase your perfect swing at our world-class practice facility on the grounds of Dromoland Castle. We have everything you need to work on every aspect of your golf game, and expert tuition available to help you improve faster than you ever thought possible.

The short game area includes two USGA specification greens with the same Penn A4/G6 Creeping Bent grass used on the golf course itself, a 500 square metre Putting Green to hone the perfect stroke before you tackle Kirby’s greens on the course, and a 450 square metre Bunker and Chipping Green. The Bunker and Chipping Green offer a number of lies, slopes and grass lengths for practice. In addition to a well-shaped, large greenside bunker, there is also a riveted face links style bunker, modelled on the infamous “Road Hole” bunker on the 17th at St Andrews.

Or, you can take your training digital, with our addictive Trackman simulator—possibly the most entertaining way to take your game to the next level. Test yourself against historic shots, or replay a tricky line that’s eluded you one time too many. Amateurs and professionals alike can play practice rounds on an endless variety of stunning virtual courses, in a fraction of the time it would take to play a full round.

Our state-of-the-art simulator features the latest technology from Trackman as seen throughout the PGA & DT World Tours and allows you track everything from face angle to smash factor and club speed to spin rates. Deconstruct your swing mechanics, test your short game skills, and have an incredible amount of fun finessing all the details of your drive.

Members and residents may book our Trackman Simulator 90 minute sessions.

Rental rates for Simulator Room: €150 for 90 minutes (maximum 4 participants) for residents.

Please note that the Academy is closed between 2pm – 3pm daily for ball collection & Every Thursday until 3pm for weekly maintenance.

Rentals and services: Titleist golf clubs in Men’s, Ladies, Right and Left handed sets are available for hire, along with push trolleys and a fleet of GPS-enabled golf buggies. Our warm and friendly experts in The Golf Shop would be delighted to help you select the appropriate equipment and arrange for caddie service and tuition bookings.

A brilliant day out on the course deserves celebration, or at very least, lunch. With an elegant ambiance and a relaxed atmosphere, The Fig Tree is the social heart of the Clubhouse. Mingle with club members and visiting golfers, resort guests and local friends as you recover and refuel over drinks and a delicious menu of hearty, flavourful favourites.
