Dromoland Castle has a millennium-long legacy of caring for the landscapes and communities that surround this very special place. Today, we carry on that sacred trust with our deep commitment to sustainability and equality and our ever-growing list of regenerative hospitality initiatives.

The place we call Dromoland has undergone many dramatic changes in its long history, shaped and moulded by the people who once lived here. Each generation of the O’Briens left their own mark. Their personalities and passions determined what Dromoland Castle would become.

The transformation of Dromoland Castle from a historic family estate to a luxury hotel has ensured that its rich history is preserved for future generations to enjoy. The hotel’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the castle’s architecture and grounds is evident in the careful restoration and renovation work undertaken over the years.

By opening its doors to guests from around the world, Dromoland Castle Hotel shares the story of the O’Brien family and their influence on Irish history. The castle’s unique blend of historical charm and modern luxury offers visitors an unforgettable experience and a glimpse into Ireland’s past.

The heritage fee at Dromoland Castle Resort supports the preservation of historical elements on our 500-acre estate including maintenance of the historic Walled Gardens, noted monuments including The Temple of Mercury, Hermits Grotto and the Lilypond, and the original estate walls.

This fee aids our stewardship efforts, protecting the estate’s charm and historical significance. It ensures the cultural legacy endures for future generations.
